Worth the Wait

Any way you look at it, I've been waiting for the chance to design with these roses for a long time- since winter, yes, but over 10 years if you start counting from when I first visited Garden Valley Ranch in Petaluma (it's located just near my godmother's). So you'll please excuse my extreme documentation of these chaps- I was a little overjoyed to have them in my studio!

    A little snafu kept me from having an order shipped from there this week. Ended up with Rose Story Farm for my class... aren't they the dreamiest? It's really hard to go wrong during peony and garden rose season!!

    Really pretty arrangements - your greens are so beautiful and fresh.

    Swoony! Look like David Austin roses? Can you get them to last well? I so love the mixture of garden roses and nigella - both just about pickable in my garden - yay! Are these subscription vases? -lucky people if so! xx

    Thank you everyone for your kind words! But those roses would make anything look good, right? ; )

    B- Sorry for the delayed response to your question. There are five varieties of roses in these arrangements, I believe all are bred by David Austin. The two most prominent in the photos are "Evelyn" and "David Austin". They seem to have lasted well- yesterday I made another deliver to the venue these went to and they still looked good! I think the trick is harvesting them when they are still very tight in bud, maybe only 1/4 open. Good luck! xxoo, J
