Pre-Departure and Day 1: VT to DC (550 miles, 11 hours)
Prior to our departure Jen organized the most wonderful gathering of friends and neighbors, complete with fig and thyme crisps, miniature rhubarb pies (top left), local and California beets (top right), fleur de sel chocolate shortbread cookies (sadly not pictured), and pissaladiere nicoise (above). We couldn't imagine a better send-off.
Yesterday was our first day on the road. While not the longest in terms of miles (about 550), our route wound through some of the small, magical valleys of Vermont (before heading on to New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, and Virginia) and as a result will probably prove to be one of our longest travel days. Unfortunately I did not have the opportunity to stop and make use of the camera or glove box studio (above). But hopefully I will be back with more exciting travel news in the coming days!

Jen's food looks wonderful and delicious! She is an artist as well as an exceptional cook and baker. What a spectacular sendoff she gave you.
