Progress, Cont'd.

While the week's events have precluded any further attempts at creating a lambs' ear collar, I do still owe you folks photos of what happened the last time I tried. Here it is, a ridiculously large and fantastically fuzzy corsage of lambs' ear, heritage rose buds, and ornamental oregano (below).
Mom points out that it is too big to be practical, which is true.  But it was a fun experiment and (like extreme runway fashion) will serve as good inspiration when I'm designing more wearable things.

  1. I would like to respectfully but vehemently disagree with Mom - I would rock that corsage anywhere. In fact, I wish I could wear it right now!

  2. You will need to train me so that when it is time for the big event, I can make one that it is even larger without distracting the MFG from the rest of the workload. I LOVE IT!!!! Absolutely stunning and extraordinarily fun. Thanks so much for indulging me and bringing my musing to life.

  3. And I think Mom would have to believe you, given the street cred your established by wearing this amongst the rowdy Basque sheep herders and cowboys of The William Tell, that outstanding honky tonk of Tomales, CA.

  4. J, as I have said before, I have reason to believe you'd be a natural when it comes to the art and science of extreme lambs ear structure construction. As long as you manage to restrain your fiercely destructive (and adorable) feline sidekick, that is. I have witnessed her floral wreckage, and it does not bode well for the lambs' ears.

  5. A pleasure to finally be able to comment on your inventive and beautiful work.

Now, that is one beautiful shoulder adornment! It does appear to have locomotive potential.

A kindred spirit from just down south.

  6. A big, fat welcome to you, MaryAnn! Thank you so much for your kind words. It's great to know you are out there!

I think you are right about the locomotion. Or, with a little tweaking and a bit of mechanization I bet we could have a working fan. Functional art, you know?

I took a look over at your blog looks like it is getting off to a lovely start. You do beautiful work and I am looking forward to seeing more of it!
